As I continue to watch tonight’s election returns, it is a good time to define for myself why I want Obama to win the Democratic nomination and, in the fall, the presidency.
And it is impossible not to note that one major reason I want him to win is that he is civil. The opposition may deliberately call into question his religion on Sunday talk shows, may move speculations that BO has made a deal with the Canadians, may cite her and McCain’s “lifetime of experiences”and sneer at Obama’s life, I suppose, completely devoid of experience, may be willing to shred BO to get where she wants to go without thought about the result of all of this in November.
I want Obama to win because the plans and policies he outlines on his website are plans and policies with which I agree and which I believe may, even if only partially realized, begin the long task of making American whole again.
I want him to win because I trust him. I like the man I see and hear. I believe he is intelligent, has a wide-ranging grasp of situations and details, and has experience in areas I value more than bouncing around the halls of Congress looking earnest. You can read about Obama’s Senate record here in a Daily Kos piece. And you can review his professional life in Chicago after he completed Harvard Law School here in The Chicago Reader. (You can read Hillary Clinton on Hillary Clinton’s Senate achievements here.)
Watching the returns tonight I was reminded of myself as a high school student when Adlai Stevenson spoke at my high school. He was my hero then, and I was thrilled to have heard him. But the next mornin, riding a city bus to school, I overheard two older women who had also been at the speech. “He said right out there that he did not believe in God,” said one of the women. “Yep,” said the other, nodding in assent.
And we are back to Sherwood Anderson and the grotesques.

Your reasoning is well intentioned in support of BO, Puffin, but…this is a massive political battle royal with much at stake and Hillary is the queen of mean in this arena. Look for BO to be bashed and his dealings with Rezko to be fully vetted in the media.

Maybe it will be all for the best in the best of all possible worlds.

BO’s church..and its leader Rev. Wright..is now a center of attention that will not aid BO’s bid. He seems not inclined to distance himself from this new problem for his candidacy.

And Wright is a problem because?

Are you so far removed from what is the current playbill in BO’s short life of being on the national stage? Good grief Charley Brown!
The demonic cantations of BO’s self annointed ‘mentor’ shouting racial hate speech from the pulpit is the new low in politics and serves the selective coverage fed to us from the main stream media of both coasts very well.
I have heard nothing but venom about the ‘holier than thou evangelicals’ of this country and how they are ruining America.
Then this fella Rev. Wright bursts on the scene with fervant, spittle spewing hate America sound bites..and the slimyest of the leftist scribes are silent.
All the while..the banal comments of big dem, high profile Geraldine Farraro continues to make headlines as Hillary apologises in her behalf. Ofcourse, the statement was out of context, which is the norm for today’s yellow journalism.
