It has been a while since I have written here, though not for lack of thinking about the blog. Just too busy.
Wanted to add a couple of quick notes now and then moreover the weekend.
Somewhere some visitor noted that I am dealing in old news, and I wanted to agree. This is not the place to come for hot rumors, inside whispers, or snatched minutes from the TriLateral Commission. If there is a reward for coming to PuffinsPlace, it is no more than to read the thoughts of a real-life human being on politics, books, culture, and whatever else passes under my nose. So if you want to discover the height Tom Cruise has jumped on Oprah’s latest couch or the identity of the black senator with whom Barbara WaWa had an affair, better head for Drudge. I’ve got all I can do to absorb and have reactions to the important stuff going on.
Tuesday is the primary here in NC. I’m feeling good about Obama and testing those feelings against sometime phone calls I make from the local HQ. But nothing will feel better than to learn Tuesday that he has won the state. I have no delusions that another taste of reality will drive Hillary to drop out, however
Am currently reading The Fall of the House of Bush and recommend it highly. I’ll be saying more on the book when I finish it but want to say now that the first 100 pages with the overview of the advent of the neocons, the emergence of the religious right, and the intellectual intercourse between the two is invaluable and worth he price of the book.
And the work with the Mac computers goes on as does my enormous pleasure in Leopard, the new operating system. Any Mac users reading here?
And, finally, I have added Jargon Fish to the blog, so if you see hypertexted words in posts, you are seeing Jargon Fish at work. Not sure if I will keep it but want to give it a try and will be playing with it a bit.
Finally, thanks to all who take the time and trouble to read here, and especially to those who post and mess with my brains. You are appreciated.
