In the FWIW department, I have hesitated to post about impeaching Bush. I remember with some chagrin when I supported impeaching Clinton for lying under oath. It seemed to me then to be important to communicate to future presidents that obeying the law is important.
With the advent of the monarchy of GWB et al, the dishonesty of Clinton seems quite small. Though I am still not sure only a waffling Congress kept him from being impeached.
But I must say now, knowing it will have no impact at all, that if we do not impeach Bush, we are saying to every public figure that the Constitution does not matter. Honor does not matter. Truth does not matter. Decency does not matter. Intelligence does not matter.
Apart from personally loathing Bush as a feral moron, I am daily stunned by the damage he, Rumsfeld, Cheyney, and all their sordid minions have done to our country. Even put aside the mockery they have made of the national budget. These are people without integrity.
We fail to censor them at our peril.

I wholeheartedly agree with your position. I included an ‘impeach’ item on my blog as well. As there is no real leadership in Congress today, it is highly unlikely impeachment would be undertaken, none-the-less, it should be. I’ll take a leader who get his jollies over one who has abuses the US constitution, enters an illegal war for oil and runs America’s reputation around the world. Great blog you have bud!!
