Going for the big O

Well, after reading a plethora of comments on Obama and FISA on the my Obama site, posting some there, and tunneling through more of Dreams from My Father, I know what to do.

Stay with Obama.

I do not know why he is waffling, and his book reminds me that I will probably never ever understand most of what goes on with him. But he is thoughtful, insightful, and careful in analysis.

And Bush is incrementally the most disgusting human being I have encountered at a distance or up close.

The issue is not even close. Keep the repubs in and surrender the Constitution, personal liberties, and good sense or learn to apply negative capability to my gut instinct that Obama is trustworthy.

Who knew that one might find it relaxing to hold opposing ideas in balance. More relaxing by far than the assurance that the country is vanishing in a sad series of individual grabs from the WH.

I’m sticking with Obama too, though my ardor has cooled a little. McCain is no option for me, and I’m unwilling to abstain. I knew somebody who would sometimes write in a vote for Mickey Mouse in order to express disgust with an election. I’m a long way from anything like that, but I may have lost some of my enthusiasm for the senator from across the river. A while ago I attacked David Brooks for suggesting that Obama would become “just another politician.” I’m not that disillousioned, either, but some of the shine is gone.

Yep. Apparently some who have donated have gotten refunds from BO’s staff. Obama must feel as though the primaries were a picnic. On the chance that he voted for FISA on the basis of actual thought and conviction rather than politics, I would find it interesting that consistency trumps flexible thought in the minds of those of us who promote him.

I keep thinking of Emerson and hoping he is on the mark.

Thanks for commenting, Julian. The blogs over at the BO site are burgeoning with anger, misery, amazement, etc. Hard to see how endorsing Bush’s dishonesty can be the result of flexibility.
