Puffin’s Place

What an astounding woman Michelle Obama is. From the beginning of these nineteen months, she has shown herself to be a woman of class—articulate, warm, intelligent, candid, and impressive.

Now we have but to wave goodbye to that last generation of Americans who see all of this unfold as a racial drama, and applaud us all for the fact that the Obamas are running for political leadership. Better that we applaud the Obamas for having the vision, the guts, and the patience to offer stellar leadership in the face of too many voters who see the color before the woman and the man.

She, like he, may be better than we deserve but is clearly what we so badly need.
