Do you know that you can set up a snopes.com feed?

If you do not and you have an email account, let me caution you against two items currently going around.

One email sets forth the theory that the Obamas funded their college educations with “funny money.” The subsequent letter is full of fraud, hysteria, and provincialism cadged from various online sources such as Wikipedia—a place where any moron can go in and make supposed reliable entries. Check out more on this here.

A second current alarm concerns what Obama reads…with never a hint that we might be grateful to have a president who CAN read. This email includes a photo of Obama with, gasp, a book in his hand and the argument that “Hussein Obama” is reading about the Arab takeover of the world.

What Barack Obama is actually reading is Fareed Zakaria’s The Post American World. As snopes points out, Zakaria is (1) Indian and not Arab, and (2) one of the most trenchant and shrewd political minds we have today; he writes a column in one of the weekly news mags and has an interview show on CNN. You can read about this nonsense here at snopes.com along with links to related matters of interest.

Feel free to pass any of this along—with a nod of gratitude to snopes.com for tracking this methodically stoopid stuff.
